Dinner

See and be seen…

The Bazaar, SLS Hotel. Jose Andres is the second James Beard Award winning chef in town (homegrown Michelle Bernstein is the other). The newly opened hotel boasts three restaurants – with Andres’ The Bazaar shining with ultra-modern cuisine from Spanish, and “around the globe” The menu is extensive, with lots of unusual and unexpected food combinations. The other fine dining choice in the hotel is Katsuya- sleek and sexy with outstanding sushi.

Juvia – The rooftop location at 1111 Lincoln Rd is a dreamy setting for a lovely meal. Long waits and buzzing crowd are best enjoyed if you can relax with a glass of champagne or cocktail before dinner.

Ciccone in Soho House is open to the public in the otherwise private club. Nice scene… lovely setting, wide menu choices. The bar is a nice place to enjoy a drink before dinner as well.

Lido Restaurant in the Standard Hotel – Lovely outside restaurant on the bay, uber-cool crowd. Bright and happy place! “Health-conscious” menu… food is fairly good, but just go for the setting, and make sure to check out the pool (one of the best in town) and spa. The co-ed hammam is quite …memorable.

Lively and chic, Mr. Chow’s restaurant in the W Hotel – also the big bar in the back of the main floor is usually filled with cool people.

Chic and exclusive… sometimes you just want to feel like a super-star

Casa Tua… Italians know a thing or two about romance, chivalry, and food! Wonderful service, great international wine list (they even serve one of the best California Chardonnay’s – Kistler), delicious desserts, and a private club (sshhhh…) upstairs. Sister property is in Aspen. Always the “right crowd.”

The Villa, is a glimpse into the life of former Miami Beach resident Gianni Versace. His former abode was a labor of love, and a legendary scene for the fashion crowd. Probably the most famous home in the city, the restaurant is uber fancy, romantic, top tier service- and worth the price!

Good food, good vibe, good any time!

Yard Bird – Southern theme, authentic and always a great choice for comfort food, and delicious cocktails, with a heavy emphasis on Bourbon.
1600 Lenox Avenue Miami Beach, FL 33139

Haven – Chef Todd English serves some of the most innovative and spectacular dishes. Sophisticated without being fussy… the sushi is, well, heavenly. The desserts are nirvana. The scene is loungey, late-night where hipsters hang at the bar. Beautiful videos change themes and the mood of the place on a nightly basis.
1237 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach

Pubbelly/Barceloneta/Macchialina – local hangouts, cozy, warm and great food. The owners have created several restaurants in South Beach, but slightly removed from the “scene” (each specializing in a different palate – from sushi to Spanish to Italian) with consistently wonderful service and yummy food.

Rosa Mexicana, of the New York group. Nice spot, good food, fresh guacamole… inside or outside, always a good choice.

Joe’s Stone Crab. The institution of South Beach is celebrating 100 years in 2013. In two words: Stone. Crabs. The scene is an absolutely delicious melting pot extraordinaire.

Sometimes you just want to eat steak

Miami Beach has a seemingly limitless number of steak houses, which is not my specialty.. but, Smith & Wollensky’s is always filled with locals, in a beautiful waterfront setting, with a lively bar scene and some tables outside on the rocks.. one of the best spots to enjoy the sunset. They have many good fish and veggie options too!

Other steak houses that get rave reviews are Red and Prime 112.
